CrossFit Oakland took the 08 Affiliate Cup with a dominant performance. What are they up to now, you ask? We sent Sevan and Carey to find out. They caught up with them on Saturday, Dec 20th, 2008 in the middle of an internal team competition. The workout was three teams of three athletes competing in a Linda-type workout. They're looking damn strong, too!
The Affiliate competition in 09 will be team workouts. What that means at this point is anyone's guess. We do know the majority of the competition will take place on the Friday before the individual competition, with only the top five teams going on to the Finals on Sunday morning.
In this Part 4, we see the end of the workout, and hear about what it's like to row 1,000 meters in 3:02 and win a C2 Indoor Rower.

Is Crossfit Oakland even good? All of their "athletes" seem rich in slow twitch fibers and woefully lacking in ROM. Am I the only one who thinks Oakland is going to find themselves in the dank and dark confines of the cellar at the 2009 Affiliate Cup Competition?

LOL! You can't put ANY video on here without a comment like this. First one out of the gate. Nicely done. Definitely underscores the community feel of CrossFit.
At any rate, great video series. It's nice to see ANY of the CrossFit members get coverage. I enjoy being a part of the extended CF family because it's FUN and challenging. Did I mention fun?

Crossfit Oakland needs to be more worried about the child labor laws than ROM. Just look at the picture above of the 10yr old girl they put on their team. Struggling with the rx'd weight has probably stunted her growth...you should be ashamed!!

Don dude, im so glad you brought this to light, their ROM of motion is clearly suspect, you should totally call the ROM police on crossfit oakland! I mean, come on, the work out called for cleans; NOT reverse curls! Those two slow twitch gorillas are clearly doing reverse curls. I bet they learned those at a globo gym. I sure would like to see that big shrek looking one do a muscle up, huh or 30 of them for that matter. Don dude, I can tell by your in depth knowledge about muscle fibers you must be one superior athlete, I hope you are competing this year in the games so you can show them what real ROM is all about!

rom shmom, they moved that weight like it was a paper weight, clean up the ROM like they should/ will and they will still be a team to be reckoned with. now off to see if I can row a 1000m in less then 3min!

I have witnessed "big dude" trying to do muscle ups after a 400m run. All I can say is those big arms are strictly for show, he even got beat by a fat chic who was still rehabing her back. Can't wait for someone to get a piece of this Oakland crew!

this just sounds like a lot of sour grapes. I used to train at CFO. They are no joke. next time you row 1000m in 3:02 you let me know. oh, and that "10 yr old" is the mother of a teenager btw. and comments about slow twitch are ridiculous. How is a clean a slow twitch movement? comments like these just show ignorance and jealousy.

These comments surprised me too. Are they serious? Somehow I think these are people they know just kidding around. Anyway, why all this focus on Oakland and NO other teams are being highlighted? Is it just that no one else is sending stuff in? We get it. Oakland won in 08. Congrats but can we show some other teams?
