Yes! Can't wait to watch him compete.
It's only fair that a previous winner should get an auto bid to the Games. There should be some sort of rule where where a winner is exempted into the Games for five years following their win.

I actually feel that the people responsible for putting on a qualifier should get an auto invite to the games.
This would include the Bainbridges as well.

WHOOP!! Congrats James! Glad to see your performance in 2007 got you in. You deserve it and thanks for putting on such an amazing qualifier for your fellow Western Canadian CrossFitters. People should be very afraid of Canada West this year!

It is only right that OPT should be competing!
This dude is the essence of the Games, he was the first winner!
IT WILL BE AN HONOR JAMES!

James, it was an honour to meet you and compete in the Western Canada Qualifiers at your facility this year. Just watched Every Second Counts last night. GOOD LUCK in the games this year, we'll be watching for you!

I haven't read all of the posts on the site so this thought may be a repeat. I think that all past CrossFit games winners should be allowed to compete forever. Just like the Masters in golf, once you win, your in. It should be up to the CF Games winner to decide if they are still fit enough to compete at the Games or to call it quits.

I agree with previous comments.
Any previous winner should be invited back.
A real champion knows when they have it in them to come back, and proven athletes don't need to be tested again.

This is great news! OPT is one of the fixtures of the crossfit community. Judging from the number of comments in only a few hours, I think a whole lot of people are excited to see him return. I mean, let's be honest, the line up for the games wouldn't be be complete without him.

Good luck James! I agree that previous winners of the games should be allowed in automatically.
As always Calgary will be very hard to beat, James, DJ, Mike.....
It will be a lot of fun to follow the games this year....
I hope Brett joins the gang next year!!

Based on everything I've seen of him, OPT is a class act. I'm glad he'll be competing at the games.

So if OPT didn't tryout for the individuals, and they posted his athlete bio, does this mean he will be competing with a team in the Affiliate Cup??...

I'm guessing he gets automatic entry due to him winning it in 2007.
Great to see that he is competing, such an outstanding athlete, I'm looking forward to it!
