Roger. Yeah he did try to qual in the DS Regional as did I. It is why it was called a "last chance qualifier video". Shows determination and dedication to bust ass twice to get in to Aromas.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to play the jerk again here but it didn't appear that his chin broke the plane of the pull-up bar for his Jackie WOD. Were the online competitors not supposed to uphold the standards that were created for those events? I'm not knocking his performance at all, I'm just curious as to why this video was chosen if the competitors were supposed to uphold specific standards for specific WODs. I saw another video where the competitor was dropping the barbell on the deadlifts and it seems to me that is a pretty standard no-no for competitive WODs these days...

I'm going to have to disagree with you. The camera angle was poor, which was unfortunate, but I've looked at a LOT of video over the years and we judged this to be adequate (revisit the OPT Helen video if you need another example). I also know Mike well and have seen him train many times. I know that he trains to standard by default. We all need judges when we're going fast, and I wasn't there.

Very few of the videos captured perfect angles, so we had to make judgment calls. Is Mike G really capable of a 6:13 Jackie to perfect standards with a qualified judge? Yes.

On the dropped deadlifts, yes that was a problem. But we weren't there to ask her to do another. And if we were, the additional seconds wouldn't have put her out of qualifying (you only have to count it once because after repeating the rep, she wouldn't repeat the drop).
