Games09CharityCheerKristan.jpgCrossFit is a family affair for Charity Vale. Watch CrossFit by Overload's video of her ... [wmv] [mov]

Charity placed 2nd overall with a dominant final workout (18:24, which was a full two minutes faster than the nearest competitor). She also came in second in the Triplet workout. Amazingly, she came in ninth in both the long run and the deadlift.

Charity and husband Jeff are CrossFit Snohomish in Snohomish, WA. Jeff trained for and competed in the NW Regional Qualifier. Charity and Jenny Olson (Jeff's sister, who came in eighth overall) decided to join him, mostly because they thought it would be hard to make the trip to Aromas without being able to participate. They don't train to win, nor to compete in the Games. But they're obviously doing something right!

Charity was a Level-10 gymnast and a Globogym-type personal trainer before Jeff found CrossFit about three years ago. Jenny jumped on the bandwagon a year later. Jenny said she does CrossFit because it's quick, she doesn't need daycare, and can do it in her garage. Both she and Charity have three kids.

When Charity finished the final workout, she celebrated briefly with Jeff, then went to cheer on her competitors. She is pictured here with Kristan Clever, the second place finisher on the final event, just a few meters from the finish line.

First off, congratulations to Charity, that was a series of amazing performances!

Quick side question, where did the kettle bells come from? Having some that could better handle being dropped from height would be fantastic.

Mike,
They are from Torque Athletic http://www.torqueathletic.com/. Super comfortable, but they sure bounced (one went over the GHD!). Can't attest to the durability, but I really liked them.

Great writeup and vid on Charity! I've had the pleasure of being coached by the Vales, and they are the perfect example of a Crossfit lifestyle. They walk the talk, and they want nothing but the best for their friends, who also happen to be their clients. As you can see from the photo, they know how to get it out of you. Way to go Charity!!

Way to go Charity! Great work last weekend and what a pleasure to work beside you! I hope I'm half as fit as you after 3 kids. I still can't get over how calm you were before each one of those workouts...and then you'd go kill each and every one! Congratulations and awesome job!!!

Gymnast makes sense since I told my friends she looked like one at the Games.

Very impressive, especially when she was back out there cheering others on.

Thank you so much for the support from each and every one of you. I appreciate all the kind words. It was a grueling weekend and I COULD NOT have done it by myself. I think I'm finally recovering!

I loved when Jolie started her BF Pullups and the crowd just went nuts. These girls are in a league of their own, clearly.
