Being "over the hill" didn't stop Linda Leipper from running over The Hill in Aromas.

Leipper, who trains at CrossFit Marina, finished seventh in the SoCal Regional and first in the Last Chance Qualifier. At the Games, the mother of two was one of six competitors 40 or over. When the final scores were tallied, Leipper was in 40th place.

The resident of Huntington Beach, Calif., finds CrossFit to be the perfect fuel for competitive fires that still burn bright, and in this video shot during the Games, she also explains that CrossFit is a way for her to blow off some steam ... [wmv] [mov]

"I love CrossFit. It's phenomenal," she said. "It's kept me in shape. I'm competitive by nature. I played collegiate sports, so this has just kind of kept me in the game from a competitive standpoint.

"It's either that or beat the shit out of my children, you know?" Leipper joked. "What do you do? Beat the shit out of a stake or your family members?"

There is no thumping going on around here. Maybe a little time out every now and then but no thumping. Or duct tape. For the kids at least.
