Those who attended the European Regional knew there was something amazing about Mikko Salo. We knew he dominated that event, but we all wondered how he'd do on the world stage. He emerged the winner.
Throughout the eight events, the Finn stayed consistent and powerful across the broad array challenges. He entered the final event just one point behind Tommy Hackenbruck, but his dominant performance sealed him the victory. He completed the chipper nearly two full minutes ahead of Jason Khalipa, and the only man to finish under 20min.
In many ways, Mikko embodies the ideal virtues of a champion. He is modest, humble, focused, and unfazed by whatever is thrown at him.

I did this same workout the other day and now have an even greater respect for Mikko and the rest of the athletes who competed in the Games.
The mental toughness needed to complete this wod, let alone finish it in sub 20 minutes, is just flat out extraordinary and a great testament to the physical and mental prowess these individuals possess.

I also went through that chipper - bodyparts flew out the other side :) good fun though and I did it "fresh" - can't imagine posting those times after seven severely intense wods.
On Mikko, I don't think one could even manufacture a better champion - true athlete and sportsperson all around. His videos are always inspiring to me.
