In 2008 Jeff Tincher of Crossfit Fairfax secured the 5th spot overall, automatically seeding him for this year and bypassing the regional qualifiers. In 2009, he ended Day 1 in 33rd position, which gave him Sunday off. Not too shabby for a 40 year old.
With the 2010 Games still on the distant horizon, Jeff has already begun to dose his practice. "I'm up to two a day programming," says Jeff. "I'm trying to work various metabolic pathways."
Proficiency across different energy pathways is a key concept of CrossFit. Jeff is directly attempting to highlight his anaerobic capacity in this WOD. "Right now I'm gonna try to tap out my glycolitic pathway... as much as I can in two minutes."
The WOD? "I'm gonna try and get as many squat clean into thrusters as I can at 185 pounds, which is 5 pounds over bodyweight." Jeff did the heavy Grace in the 08 Games in just over 5 minutes, so his frame of reference is sound.
"I'm shootin for twelve, if I can get twelve that'll be good, if I get 15 I'll be very very happy."
