The Regional Qualifiers are starting!

CrossFit FX posted the Australasia Regional Qualifier workouts.

The site features several of the top competitors, along with the actual workouts:

Saturday 4th April, 7:30am Workout 1:
Three Rounds
10 Clean & Jerk Men 60kg / Females 40kg
15 Ring Dips
20 KB Swing Men 24kg / Females 16kg

1:00pm Work out 2:
21 - 15 - 9 Reps
Burpee
Pull Ups
Row 400m

Sunday, 5th April 8am Workout 3:
This will be announced Saturday Evening after the final heat.

The top two men and top two women from these three workouts will be coming to Aromas, CA on July 11-12, 2009 to compete in the 2009 CrossFit Games!

About the poster: Does anyone else think that showing a kangaroo doing bicep curls with a kettlebell might be missing the mark for a CrossFit event?
Maybe Jeff Martone needs to do a cert "down under"?

On the other hand, I can't wait for the Games. With competitors from around the globe, I'm sure we are in for the most competitive and exciting Games yet.

Not that i'm in this regional or anything but just to be clear for the burpee-pullup wod is the row done after 21-15-9 or after 21 after 15 and after 9?

Just did WOD 2:

6:10

Standard Pullups vice CTB. Just one row at the end.

Think you will find that there is a row after every set 1.2km in total.

Think you will find that the Kangaroo is just holding the Kettlebell mate not fucking doing bicep curls. If you have been watching the main site vids of late you will see the guy aka Commando Steve who owns the gym (CrossFitFX) http://www.crossfitfx.com/ that the games are being held at and also the man who's banner it is. I am pretty sure he knows what to do with a kettlebell. Have a look at the site and see if you see some curls anywhere.

So he's not a bicep curl, just posing to show off his biceps? I'm not sure being a poser is better than curling the thing.

Now if if were a puking kangaroo, then you'd have something...

Did the first workout in 9:04 at my affiliate. Followed the standards posted on the CFX website. Excited to see how it stacks up! I have a feeling there will be some freaky times tomorrow!

The row in WOD #2 was after every round...

The 3rd WOD was a sand dune run:
----------------------------
3 laps of a roughly square track of somewhere between 400-500m.
Ca. 100m incline (50m @ 25-30 degrees and 50m @ 40-45 degrees)
Then ca. 100m horizontal traverse;
Next 100m was decline with similar gradients to incline and then all the way back down to the starting point to complete the track (1 lap).

For the final lap an additional 50m incline to the finish line.

In case somebody is interested (i.e. for comparison) here are the top times for both WODs:

Men

WOD #1: 5:49min
WOD #2: 8:06min

Women

WOD #1: 10:51min
WOD #2: 10:22min

and believe me the guys at CFX know how to use a
KB properly
