The final results are in!
Chris Spealler won all three workouts, the final one more than four minutes quicker than the closest competitor Zachary Forrest, who ended up third overall. Chris, Zachary and Eric O'Connor (who won the run at last years' Games) will be heading to Aromas for the 09 Games.
Hillari Eaton (pictured) won the women's competition, with the top finish in both the second and third workouts (she got fourth in the first workout). She and Lisa Ray were the only women to complete all three workouts as Rx'd.
Cyndi Frieling came in third. She won the first workout and got fourth in the final workout. She scaled the second workout. The way they scored the event was 0 points for scaled workouts or workouts that didn't get completed in the allotted time. Cyndi's 189 points from the first and final workouts were enough to earn her a trip to Aromas.
Congratulations to all six athletes! Specific athlete profiles will be coming in over the next couple weeks.

What where the weights M & F for power snatch on the first WOD? Looks like "fun"

The power snatch for men was 135 lbs. For women it was 95 lbs.

My understanding was, if you scaled any workouts, you weren't eligible to qualify? Not to knock Cindi Frieling, just that's how it worked for the Euro Quals, meaning Kari Kundert didn't qualify.
Well done to everyone who competed in any case!

Jamie, just as each Regional organiser was responsible for the qualifier workouts, it was also left up to them to determine the criteria for qualification. Euro required that each athlete complete all WOD's as Rxed within the specified time limit. Other regions are obviously free to do differently.
Cheers, kempie

Aaron,
I think the 3rd WOD was:
800m Run +
3 rounds:
10 HSC
20 Pull-Up
30 Box Jump
+ another 800m Run

That's almost right on the 3rd workout. It was:
Run 800m then:
3 rounds of
10 Cleans (No power cleans unless they were followed by a front squat)
20 CTB Pullups
30 30'/24' Box Jumps
Then run 800m.

Hey, does anyone know if they posted the movement/ROM standards for the event? I'm wondering what they accepted at a legitimate snatch in WOD #1...

Jamie,
Along with the point Kempie made, Cindi scaled her handstand push-ups but she received no points for that workout. That said, she had the third highest point total. Our region was allotted 3 women and 3 men to go to the games, and the event organizers decided to send three women.

Thanks, Ken! I look forward to seeing your name on the qualifying list for the Dirty South! Match up again in Aromas? haha
A big thanks to everyone who put this event on -- Damon, Lisa, Chris, Alisha...FANTASTIC job. Everything was on schedule or early! Everyone from Vegas has a blast.
Congrats to all the qualifiers and ALL competitors. It was truly inspiring seeing everyone push as hard as they did.

The cleans were from the floor into a full squat. I should know, I designed the workout.

Damon, were step-ups allowed for the box jumps? Was the requirement just "on the box, anyway, with hips extended" or was jumping actually required? There was some discussion on this in the SoCal Regional.
