If anyone is interested, the Canadian Western Regional Qualifiers are going on as we speak at CrossFit Calgary. Check this link to see the WODs, the first one was brutally tough. I'm surprised the Games site hasn't mentioned this yet. It's unfortunate, actually...

That is too bad. The Eastern Canada Qualifier WODs aren't posted on the Games site either. The Calgary ones look challenging across a wide range, wow. Good luck!

I'm competing down in Peru, but I've been doing a bunch of the Qualifier WODs down here in Bogota, and the altitude makes them even more punishing. Gonna try a few of the Canadian ones this week.

Personally I think the Canadian WODS are the BEST mix or programming out of all the Qual WODS i've seen. They are ACTUALLY including a max effort strength element. Something that I thought the Dirty South Wods were missing. IMO the TDS WODS were geared more for speed, agility, and endurance. Don't get me wrong...YOU HAD to be strong to do the WODS....but I feel a max effort would have balanced things out a bit. Just my .02.

Not to highjack this post, but the Western Canadian qualifiers at CFC have some amazingly programmed WODs (in my opinion), not surprising since I believe OPT was involved?

Let's see some coverage on here!

The workouts at the western canadian qualifiers are well thought out and methodical. Congrats to whoever designed them.

The WODs were the brainchild of the master himself, OPT. He pretty much gave up a chance to go to Aromas so he could design the Qualifiers.

OPTs not going ro aromas?!?! NOOOO

Not necessarily. OPT can still qualify by sending in a video of himself doing the workouts released at the end of May.

Thats true, Jeremy, a curious turn of events there I gotta say.

Yeah, can't imagine the Games without OPT in the trenches battling it out. He was the rabbit I focused on chasing when I first started CF, and damn he's one tough rabbit to catch!

I think OPT automatically qualifies for winning in '07. I could be wrong but I thought I remember hearing that somewhere.

OPT really designed a brillant event, hats off. Can't wait to see the top 3 coming out of that one, guaranteed top athletes.

GAUCOIN -

So did OPT sit out since he was involved as an organizer?

If so kudos.

Can't believe they haven't posted anything on this site for the Western Canadian Regionals. Last years games we had 4 athletes in the top 20 males and two other in the top 40. We also had 3 females in the top 20 as well. I think that deserves some press. Especially since we only get three males and three females for this years games.

Good luck to all competing this weekend in all regions

I seem to have started something that I did not intend to do, I just wanted people to have a link they could follow regarding us Canadians up in Canadia, as Ken C calls it. I apologize for taking away from the Hell's Half Acre Regionals. GIVE 'EM HELL!!
