seeing what all 3 wods are now i'm wondering why a point system was used and not an every second counts format. the first workout (thruster/burpee; great wod btw) could just have easily been 8 or 10 rounds for time rather than rounds in 12 minutes. i say this because what if someone kills this workout today and wins by a minutes or two: he or she only gets points. a win by 1 second counts the same as a win by 1 minute and doesn't fairly reflect the dominance of the performance (remember khalipa at the games?).

i'm not against a point system but it seems to me it should be used when your competition has say a max lifting component along with some metcons or when the metcons may be vastly different in time domains. western canada was a good example of why a point system was needed (long metcon, run, max lift, short metcon).
