Gavin Cooke of CrossFit Africa sends us in this report from the small, but extremely competitive qualifier this weekend in South Africa:

The African Regional CrossFit Qualifiers are over and the results are in.

The event saw 26 competitors face 3 brutal workouts and the competition was fierce. Competitors from all over South Africa joined in and the extremely well prepared athletes gave performances that will ensure the CrossFit presence in Africa continues to get noticed! The sportsmanship on display also deserves mentioning!

WOD 1 was extremely challenging and our eventual men's winner Danie du Preez blew his opposition away with a performance that left jaws hanging in disbelief!

Tia McDougal (pictured), the ladies winner, and a recent CrossFit convert, was solid through all the workouts and thoroughly deserves her slot in the 2009 CrossFit games.

The day, while very challenging, definitely separated the fit from the not so fit and has set the standard in Africa for all future qualifiers.

Wiseguy..... - I was the co-ordinator along side with Gaven, who is a passionate CrossFitter, the guy who won is the owner of the box, which sets a perfect example for the clients and at 40 it has an even greater impact:)

wiseguy, anyone who can do the first workout in 18min deserves a place at the games - you might want to try it.
