The Rocky Mountain Regional Qualifiers are over and the results are in. Skip and Jodi Miller, the owners of Front Range CrossFit, talk about the event:

It was an amazing event to be a part of. The athletic performances were unbelievable to witness. The Rocky Mountain Region is sending 10 incredible athletes to represent our region at the 2009 CrossFit Games in Aromas.

One item of note was the decision, which was made months ago, that the FRCF women are going to Aromas this summer to compete on the FRCF Affiliate team. They are not taking any of the individual athlete slots, even thouth they went 1-2-3. So the qualifying slots rolled down to the women from 4th through 8 place.

The Qualifying Women are:

Krista Colson CrossFit Rockford
Andrea Bell CrossFit Rockford
Jenna Rettenmayer Bridger CrossFit
Libby Dibiase CrossFit Omaha
Stacie Tovar CrossFit Omaha

The Qualifying Men are:

Matt Chan CrossFit Verve
Ricky Frausto CrossFit Omaha
Brandon Pastorek CrossFit Rockford
Kyle Kasperbauer CrossFit Omaha
Pat Burke MBS CrossFit

Hi there CFers,

I just have one question. Why are we not seeing many of the familiar names as qualifiers for the CF Games?

Where is Khalipa? OPT? Everett? Pat Barber? Dutch? Boz?

Have i just missed these guys as qualifiers? Are their regions yet to run trials?

Regards
TW

@ Tony Wrightson:

The top 5 at the 08 Games auto-qualify. So Khalipa, Everett and Barber are already going...didn't have to compete. OPT and Boz aren't competing this year, and Dutch qualified at Hell's Half Acre on May 3rd.

most used 75# and did power snatchs for 94 reps!!! it was awesome to watch them crank that out in under 5 minutes!!!

that's some smart tactic on the snatches. by far the quickest way to go ground to overhead, well, if the load is tolerable!

Great job to everyone! Brandon, excellent strategy picking the lower reps and 95lb! Still cranked the snatches in the beginning and looks like you took it home from there!

it was a pretty good mix of weights for the top ten. some went with 75, some with 95, some with 135. only one guy, in all of the heats, elected to go 155...and then he didnt show for the workout lol. i cant say that i blame him though.

amazing weekend, the rocky mountain regional will be represented well at the games. skip and his crew did an unbelieveable job of running the events. everything was flawless. thanks to all of those that made this happen.

Really impressive performances! For anyone who was there/competed, which weights did the top female competitors choose for workout #3?

Almost all the women in the final heat used 65# for 74 reps. I made the mistake of choosing 85# for 59 reps and dropped two placings! lol!!

Will,

Read the third paragraph of the above post very, very slowly. And really focus on the second and third sentences in that three sentence paragraph.

Ha! Thanks Brandon. As you can see, I need my hand held once in awhile. Thank you for your gentle touch.
