Speal is competing today in the Great Basin Regional Qualifiers. Sevan caught up to him last night and asked him about his training and perspective on this year's competitions.

Speal came in 10th overall last year. He was first going into the final event, which was the 30 reps of squat clean and jerk at 155lbs. That's a massive load for someone who weighs 135lbs.

Since then, Speal has been training hard. He has gained about 5lbs, is much stronger, and still as fast (if not faster).

Speal is a class act! i love that he takes being small as a challenge, and I'm sure that attitude is a big part of why he is so good. The games competitors are lucky he isnt a little bigger or we could just give him the trophy now!

Good luck in all the competition. Man that 2 DL's on the minute sounds brutal, he did 2.33x BW for 14min and sounds like he could've kept going if not for the injury.

Dude... I need to go to the site later and see how you did but I always look for your postings on WOD's to see where i stand. You are a freaking stud. Hope to see you at the games... I am going to the Dirty South Qual. next weekend, even if I can't make it I will have to be there in Aromas to see you and the rest of the fire breathers kick ass.
Good luck,
Hooah!!!
