James Fitzgerald is the owner of Optimum Performance Training. Besides running a successful CrossFit box and being a movie star, he's also an incredible athlete.

OPT was crowned champion of the 2007 CrossFit Games and he finished 11th in 2008. As one of the possible favorites for this years' Games, many were surprised to see him sitting on the sidelines, organizing instead of competing. In this interview, OPT talks about the tough decision.

You're a class act OPT. Great interview.

OPT_mommy posted that you guys are sending a team for the Affiliate Cup. Are you going to be competing?

After competing in the Canada East Qualifier I have nothing but respect for OPT. You're a Canadian Crossfit legend and the games wouldn't be the same if you weren't there.

AlexBureau good luck in the Video Qualifier and hopefully I'll see you in Aromas but I know I'll see you on beyondthewhiteboard.

OPT is an incredible human being. His love for the sport is contagious and his performances are inspiring to say the least; not to mention this guy has got stellar character. The sub-7 Helen video is one of the coolest videos I have watched on the main site. I hope OPT decides to compete in the last chance qualifier and in turn makes it to compete in the games. I can't imagine a legend of Crossfit and a possible favorite to win the games, not competing in the games.

When I saw there were 6 comments on this video, I knew with 100% certainty that Alex Bureau was going to be one of them.

Alex - We get it! You don't like Anthony. Leave it be and get back to training.

Very nice. I've been proud to call James my friend for 15 years and he never stops amazing me. The passion he displays for CrossFit was so obvious all weekend at the Regionals and was displayed to us in his closing speech on Sunday. He put so much into making that weekend what it was he was as beat out and tired as the competitors the whole week after. I think James is like the Obi Wan of CrossFit now; he may not be competing (maybe) this year but somehow that has made his legend grow stronger in the CF community.

Good on ya, buddy!

He is a true leader like Sweeney said. Glad to have the opportunity to meet and start to get to know the guy, He always seems to have the right words to say to someone at the right time. Amazing person, amazing coach, true CrossFit legend!

I hope he submits his workouts for the Last Chance workouts. But if he doesn't... then everyone should be scared because that'll fuel the fire for 2010!

That's funny, the cars driving behind the camera were going to get an oil change. CFC's neighbours are a Minute Lube!

My hat goes off to James. The way he summed up Crossfit and the community was spot on. I hope Crossfit doesn't lose this very definable aspect as it continues to grow. Great interview!

OTP way to represent Calgary, and Canada. I am from Medicine Hat and I would have loved to come to the Western Qualifiers, maybe next year though. I should have come up to watch though, it would have been fun to watch all of those competitors and meet you.

OTP I hope you end up going to the games so I can cheer you on.

OPT - you are one helluva represenative of the CF Community. I have followed you for 4 years now, and you never cease to amaze me. I wish I could have attended your Regional - just to watch. I am sure it was as close to the CF Games as you could get.

The interview was awesome. I can feel the passion you have for Crossfit when you speak. You want to give back as much to Crossfit as it has given to you - if not more - and I totally understand this.

You are a class act my friend, and I hope you do compete in the LCQ. I can't wait to see you in Aromas.
