I totally agree with the testing. I feel that the crossfit philosophy is not just about being fit, but also about disipline and a genuine competitive spirit. During the Hell's Half Acre Qualifier, I had never seen so many people encouraging others whom they were competing against. I think that Crossfit's disipline makes you and all around stronger person, not just physically. Also, it is kind of a nice comliment when people acuse you of using performance enhancing drugs when you know you never have!!!

Finally a sport where the athletes embrace steroid testing. That is a breath of fresh air.

I love the idea of the athletes signing a pledge that they are clean - way better than involuntary testing.

As I've said elsewhere: testing should be voluntary & victors with "clean" test results can hold up their test results with pride as a model to others.

The original ADFPA used to have its athletes sign pledges. To the outsider it had no actual teeth to it, but it did force one to put down in writing that you were a clean athlete. Great video Coach Everett and good luck at the games

I've been an active member of CrossFit Brisbane here in Australia for the past 4 months & I'm absolutely loving it!! I'm totally hooked on the concepts & principles of CrossFit & in the 4 months I've been training, I've made some fantastic progress. I believe Josh Everett epitomises what CrossFit is all about and he's definitely one of my favourite CrossFitters. All the best for the Games & also a big shout out to the Australasian representatives competing at the Games too!!! Give it heaps guys!!!! Show em that ANZAC Spirit!!!!

Ken c: so true and so sad. I'm 46.

Jerry, steroid use is not a criminal activity, unless the drugs were obtained illegally.

A mandatory drug test subjects athletes to a testing process that could possibly be flawed. Can you imagine the ramifications of a false positive?

If I'm going to be tested, I'd want the best possible test available to reduce the odds of a false positive. I'd be willing to pay for that. I'd also be willing to pay for a lie-detector test to validate my test. But I want to choose who will test me and how, since the outcome impacts my life & reputation not just the competition.

I need a signed Josh Everett 8"10" to go next to my Jerry Rice, Will Clark, Willie Mays, Joe Montana and Jack Nicklaus photos. 3rd , 2nd ,...... Its only fitting that every WOD begins with 3,2...
