bagentandlou.jpgBummed that you didn't qualify for the 2009 CrossFit Games? Don't worry. If you are coming to Aromas as a spectator, you have the chance to win (or lose!) another competition: Armwestling.

Two of Professional Armwrestling's biggest stars Travis Bagent (pictured with Lou Ferrigno) and John Brzenk will be at the Games!

John is known as the Greatest Arm Wrestler of All Time, and has been professionally armwrestling for over 30 years. He won his first World Title at 18, and continued to dominate the sport throughout his life. He is the feature of our own Sevan Matossian's award winning movie Pulling John, which will be shown on the Jumbotron Friday night at the Games!

Both Travis Bagent and John Brzenk will armwrestle any and all who wish to challenge them. Yes, they're prepared to armwrestle hundreds of CrossFitters a day, and the cocky bastards aren't expecting to lose!

I think I'm going to arm wrestle him at the Games, just to say I got pummeled by the greatest in the world. How freaking cool is that? I just hope he doesn't break my poor little arm :-)

Seems only fair we make him do a wod after he tears off my arm.

Use to armwrestle ALOT until I watched my brother get his humerus fractured. Complete break. Freaky and I've never done it since. I'd be careful going up against someone as strong as Travis.

I cannot wait to Arm Wrestle Travis, following that with a Challenge to Speal in a met-con of his choice, have an OLY lifting strength competition with Mr Everett, maybe I'll follow up that with an intellectual debate with OPT, also sprinkle in my CrossFit knowledge prowess against Coach himself. Then I'll try and finish off the weekend by trying to drink Freddy C under the table.

Kudos to the CrossFit powers that be to organize an event that reminds me just how small my balls actually are.

Seriously though, everyone I've mentioned as well as others have personally inspired me to a much more enjoyable, fulfilling life since I've been involved with CrossFit. It has trickled into every other facet in my life in a positive way. Thanks for everything all you studs have done, and will continue to do. Some may think they're simply being filmed during a workout. But, in that moment, you're actually swelling a movement which is changing more lives everyday. You all rock. Hope I can get some pics with you during your down time.

Found this elsewhere:
I'm sure they won't hit, probably just total hand control and slow side pressure to the pad. You might see some broken arms though. In AW, you break your own arm by allowing yourself to get in a bad position. Specifically when you look away from your arm and are trying to pull. When this happens you get a spiral fracture of the humerus. A great rule for beginners is always look at your hand. This keeps your shoulder from getting ahead of your hand. However, if Brzenk just maintains hand control and some crossfitter starts hitting, looking away from his arm (cuz he won't do dick with Brzenk's hand), like most beginners do, he could easily break it. I'm sure they'll explain all of this and have a seasoned ref [COUCH???] but you never know.

My buddy that own's [a bar] had Brzenk and some other well-known guys up for a charity tournament he did. [The owner] told me Brzenk just destroyed everyone in the tournament as expected and then afterwards there was a line from the table all the way to the back of the bar to pull him. He said Brzenk would just ask them if they wanted to be slammed or if they wanted to try for a while before losing. He said he wasn't even cocky about it he was just asking because a lot guys had family members filming it. He said it was just ridiculous because it was after Brzenk had won the whole tournament and not
only was there nobodies from the bar in line but almost every AW from the tourny in line too. He said nobody was even close.

I have known John Brzenk for 30 years now.
You who think you can't defeat John will be humbled soon. John is no doubt the greatest armwrestler in world history.
As athletes, one of our biggest challenges is getting enough fruits and vegetable everyday. One of the world best nutritional concepts for getting your nutrition from a food source can be found on John's website.
Be sure to ask him about it, when you see him.
